The MCH Group is a leading international group of companies specialised in live marketing. Thanks to the unique network that exists within the group itself, it is able to provide all the relevant services on the national and international exhibition and event market. Its history, stretching back more than ninety years, and the profound expertise of each of its business lines guarantee the top quality of its products and services.
The MCH Group (the new name adopted by MCH Swiss Exhibition in January 2009) came into being in 2001 through the merger of the companies that had been operating the exhibition centres in Basel (since 1916) and Zurich (since 1945). The group includes not only these two exhibition companies but also Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG of Wohlen (since July 2005), Expomobilia AG of Effretikon (since January 2007) and Rufener events Ltd. BSW of Zurich (since January 2009). The holding company has its head office in Basel and is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange ("Domestic Standard").
Three Strategic Business Fields
- MCH Exhibitions: The portfolio of exhibitions run directly by the MCH Group or as joint ventures with others now totals some thirty in all, including BASELWORLD, the world watch and jewellery show, and the leading international art shows of Art Basel and Art Basel Miami Beach.
- MCH Infrastructure: The exhibition centres in Basel and Zurich have a total available exhibition area of 190,000 m2. The MCH Group also owns the Congress Center Basel and is a partner in the Miami Beach Convention Center (42,000 m2). Two other entities belonging to the group are the Musical Theater Basel and Theater 11 in Zurich.
- MCH Event Services: Along with its subsidiaries, Rufener events Ltd. BSW, Expomobilia AG (including Techno Fot AG) and Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG, the MCH Group provides comprehensive, top-quality services in the fields of event management, stand construction and technical systems for organised events throughout the whole of the exhibition and event market.
Key Figures
In both Basel and Zurich, a yearly total of 40 to 50 own and guest exhibitions take place, involving about 15,000 exhibiting companies and generating more than 1.5 million visitors, and yearly line up more than 250 conventions and diverse events.
In 2007 and 2008, MCH Group generated in average revenue of about CHF 340 million and group benefit of CHF 35 million. MCH Group employs in total some 550 full time employees and about 1,000 part time employees and casual workers.
